The Ferryman

You will forgive me, I hope, for not writing lengthy posts at this stage.

Here is my first artistic offering for 2008:

Uhm. Do you want Raccoonish input about your fascinating image of Charon? :)

I am afraid that I pissed you off with my analysis of Shells :/

Hey Raccoon!

You didn't piss me off at all! I only just noticed that I forgot to respond to most of the comments on my last post and that was my error. If I invite comments, I should at least reply when they are made. So no, I totally enjoyed reading your comment. I love the fact that my paintings mean different things to different people - it's fascinating. My only regret is that I have no idea what the whole Cthulhu thing is - or even how to properly pronounce it. But no, I really really enjoyed your previous comment! And would be very happy if you have something to say about 'Charon' as well (interesting - I only called him 'the Ferryman', but there you go :) )

I will now go and duly reply to the others who left me comments on shells, whom I inadvertently disregarded.

But please, your comments are most welcome! Definitely!

OK dude... I have been pissed off at work, and since these ungratefuls do not deserve the fruit of my efforts, I have some time to ponder your version of Charon.

First of all, this is clearly a continuation of the Cthulhu theme. The watery environs, surreal surroundings and general atmosphere of unease hint at it. And the theme of this particular painting - Charon, the psychopomp - is certainly cthonic enough to fit well into your Elder Gods series of paintings.

First of all, the ferryman himself. The spectral figure is clearly Charon: the ghostliness of it, the strange and unnatural river, the bizzare banks, the perception-twisting ferry... all of these hint quite strongly at Charon's identity. Especially the creepy skeletal fingers.

ooof... hafta run. Will continue later :)

Racoon - Thank you!!

I'm waiting for the next installment of the comment. When I've read the whole thing I'll share my own thoughts. For the moment, if I don't reply immediately to your next comment, it's because I'll be airborne. I've been overseas on a shiv'ah visit and am presently a long way from home.

But please - continue writing! :D
